About Sentry

Bad software is everywhere, and we’re tired of it. Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster so we can get back to enjoying technology.

With more than $217 million in funding and 100,000+ organizations that believe we’re on to something, we're building performance and error monitoring tools that help companies like Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian spend less time fixing bugs and more time building products.

Sentry embraces a hybrid work model, with Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays set as in-office anchor days to encourage meaningful collaboration. If you like to selfishly build things that make your digital life better, come help us build the next generation of software monitoring tools.

About the role

As the manager you will lead a team of Production Engineers responsible for the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Sentry’s cloud infrastructure. The Production Engineering team is the foundation that enables our product and infrastructure to scale smoothly and securely. You’ll be responsible for building and evolving the cloud systems that power Sentry—from compute, to networking to service orchestration.

As Sentry scales, Production Engineering plays a critical role in ensuring our infrastructure evolves to meet growth, performance, compliance, and security demands. You’ll lead efforts to improve infrastructure automation, cost efficiency, and operational maturity, while supporting engineering efforts across the organization.

You will inspire and develop a high-functioning team by investing in mentoring, setting strategic direction, and maintaining a high bar for technical excellence and operational ownership.

In this role you will

  • Grow and lead a team of talented and motivated Production Engineers

  • Set strategic direction for the team, anticipating infrastructure and scaling needs

  • Drive adoption of cloud-native patterns and infrastructure-as-code best practices

  • Define and deliver quarterly goals aligned with company and engineering strategy

  • Partner with SRE and product engineering to improve service reliability

  • Foster a culture of operational excellence and accountability

  • Support the on-call and incident response process, being part of the escalation path

You’ll love this job if you

  • Enjoy mentoring engineers and creating space for their growth

  • Are passionate about enabling engineering teams to move fast and safely

  • Thrive in solving complex cloud infrastructure problems at scale

  • Take pride in designing systems that are observable, cost-effective, and resilient

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering

  • Ideally 2+ years of people management experience

  • Experience working with distributed systems in Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

  • Experience with tools that manage systems including Terraform, Kubernetes, Salt, and Envoy

  • Good written and spoken English communication skills

  • Bonus points if you have experience working with globally distributed teams

  • Please note the following:
